I have been learning Spanish with Isabel for just over a year now. I was a complete novice, to begin with, having tried to learn a language a few times before and failed I didn’t have a high expectation on how long I would keep studying. Because Isabel spends time in understanding me and tailors the course, I’ve found that not only have I continued to progress but I enjoy the lessons. Because of her use of online systems such as Edmodo and Quizlet I can study anywhere using my Phone /I-PAD. Since COVID we have continued online using Zoom and these are working really well. I am looking forward to continuing my lessons and putting my learning into practice in Spain.

My name is Bernard Garnett, when I decided to learn Spanish 18 months ago, I looked at several options as to how I was going to learn, was it night school or private tuition? I decided I wanted a smaller more personal option of learning and I contacted Isabel Ruiz at Lauburu Languages. It was a good decision - I soon found that I had found a very good teacher in Isabel. After a few classes, I decided along with Isabel to start at the beginning of the course with private tuition. I have been learning with Isabel now for over 18 months and have made good strides forward. She is very encouraging always and makes learning a pleasure. There is lots of variation in our lessons and Isabel will go the last mile to make lessons interesting and help you to understand. For anyone who wants to learn Spanish, you can’t do better than Isabel Ruiz.

I have been attending Isabel’s classes now for a couple of years. She is a professional yet friendly teacher and I feel that my Spanish is continuing to improve. She encourages the class to speak freely and to try to express ourselves through debates on a wide range of subjects such as Spanish culture and current affairs. Isabel corrects us so that we continue to learn, but without being afraid of making mistakes. She uses Edmodo, the online education app, to reinforce the previous week's lesson and to set our homework.

My 5 yr old and 3 yr old girls really look forward to their weekly Spanish. I was very impressed with our recent holiday to Spain that they can say hello, goodbye, and thank you in shops and restaurants, count in Spanish when playing, recognize words in the supermarket and on menus, and even sing in Spanish. We are all looking forward to the next term.

We decided to ask you to help James with his GCSE Spanish following a recommendation from one of James’ fellow students at Ilkley Grammar School. James had not studied Spanish prior to choosing it as his choice of modern language and needed to catch up – evidenced by his predicted C grade! After extra study with you, James has done progressively better with his written and oral work and tests in Spanish and is now indicating a grade A at GCSE. (he got an A* grade)
